Hey all,

I’m at training camp in GA at the Adventures In Missions base. It’s been a week full of teaching, worship, prayer, preparation, and sitting in the presence of Jesus. It’s been great, refreshing and refilling!

The racers come on Sunday, 2 days away. There will be 10 on my team. 4 gals and 6 guys, plus my co-leader Christian and myself. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the team! We will have another 10 days of training in GA before we head to Thailand and Vietnam.

One of the verses that God has on my mind to meditate on recently is Psalms 90:12,14: “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days!”

Last night as a leadership team we read through the entire book of Revelation. Wow, what a humbling and awe inspiring book! As I read and listened to the way John describes his visions of Jesus I couldn’t help but bow before him in my heart and on my face on the floor. The presence of Jesus, the majestic, powerful, fearful Son of Man filled my mind! His eyes like a flame of fire, His voice as the sound of mighty crashing waters, a two-edged sword comes out of his mouth, His face as bright as the sun shining in all of its strength! Wow!!!! And then when John describes the throne room in heaven where lightnings and thunders and voices come from! It’s an awe striking view, with a sea of glass like crystal in front of the throne and the four majestic winged creatures with multiple faces and eyes looking at you from every direction. And these powerful beings are constantly honoring the Lord God. They never stop, all day and all night long, they say over and over again:

“Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Who Was and Is and Is to come!”

And then the elders on their thrones dressed in their white and crowned with their golden crowns fall down before the King who sits on the throne and worship Him saying:

“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For you created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11

As we continued to to read the book of Revelation I felt my body start to physically tremble. I felt totally humbled and awestruck in the presence of the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. The ONLY Worthy One. Revelation talks about the fearful wrath of God, and the end of the world. John records that when he saw this Mighty One Jesus he fell down at his feat like a dead man. I was picturing that and feeling that too.

We’ve been talking a lot of about the love of Jesus and it can be hard to also imagine Him as this fearful and mighty King. Read Revelation and be reminded, He is not a little kitty cat. He is not a tame lion as C.S. Lewis puts it.

And yet, in all His power and majesty and splendor, He is still so tender and gentle to us, his bride. When John fell down, literally scared to death, in the presence of Jesus, Jesus reached down and put his right hand on frightened John laying there at his feet and comforts him saying “Do not be afraid”…

I could keep going telling you about what Revelation says… I encourage you to read it and read it all at once sometime! It is powerful.

But back to “teach me to number my days”…

Revelation repeats a phrase Jesus says four times throughout the book:

“I am coming soon”.

Jesus is coming back soon! He’s coming to a world that largely rejects Him. And that is scary… for them. The King is coming and He is going to SHOW His power in all His fearful wonder. Those who do not willingly surrender to their King will be brought to their knees, and it won’t be pretty! This King is coming back and He says it’s going to be soon.

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. Rev 20:11”.

There will be a judgment throne. There will be an end to the illusion that we have any ability and power in and of ourselves. The enemies of King Jesus won’t stand a chance.

My point here is not to motivate by fear. But after reading Revelations last night its no joke, Jesus is to be feared by those who don’t love Him.

But Jesus also offers love and living water to ANYONE who wants:

“Rev 21:6 It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life FREELY.”

“Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that HEARS say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

Ok Jesus, I’ve heard You, and I’m drinking up that living water, and I’m thirsty! In this season I’m living in, as long as you give me breath and life I’m going to satisfy my thirst from Your fountain! And I’m going to call others to COME and drink, taste and see that the Lord is good!

I’m going to keep living today, and tomorrow, and the next day… and so on… numbering my days, aware of the FACT that THE KING IS COMING SOON!

Revelation 15:3-4 Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? For Thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest!
